5K Road Run/Walk

12th August 2016

Caltra & District 5k run/walk took place on the 12th August 2016 in Caltra. We had 80 entries on a wet dark evening. Despite the conditions there was a great atmosphere and everyone enjoyed the event. The run started at 8.00pm and the first male runner home in 17 minutes 24 seconds and the first female runner home in 19 minutes.  I wish to congratulate all the athletes on great running.  Thanks to Ronan Gately for doing the Timing. I would like to thank Motorpark Athlone, Castleffrench Engineering and Loki sports and all our other sponsors, also I would also thank the Ballinasloe Civil Defence and the Gardaí and all our marshals and everyone who helped out in any way. As a new club not a year old this race was a challenge for us to organise and I would like to thank Galway County Board especially James London for all the help provided. Photos of the run are up on the caltra and district athletics club Facebook page and I would like to thank John O’Connor who did a great job. Finally a big thanks to all the runners and walkers for coming out to support us. We hope to have you all back again next year.
